Fly happily over the Rainbow Bridge

Our sweet African Gray Parrot, Sophie, has gone to the Rainbow Bridge and we miss her so much. Sophie was special. She NEVER EVER EVER screeched or "growled" - all she ever did was talk talk talk and more talk. She would put her head out to be scratched and then talked some more. She would mimic almost everything she heard...she knew ALL the doggie names, commands, swear words, burped, sang Happy Birthday, would say "Hello How Are You" when the telephone rang and on and on and on. She talked in a low deeper voice like Paul and a higher one like mine. For some reason every time Paul would come up to her cage Sophie would say to him "Hi Sam” (the name of another of our birds). Certain actions of ours would have her saying certain words and only at those times. She was a remarkably smart bird. Sophie has been part of our lives for 23+ years.

It is so sad to look at her empty cage, the house is so quiet without her chatting to us. She is flying over the Rainbow now and is back with her old friends Patrick, Kelly, Rocky, Bonni, Brigitte and Max all of whose names she was still speaking.

We miss you Sophie!
