'big' Max & Brigitte	When Brigitte was 5 years old we contacted Barb Booher of Sonnenschein Shorthairs and asked her advice for breeding Brigitte to a stud from Barb's line. 'Big' Max and Brigitte produced 8 beautiful puppies ... 3 boys / 5 girls. Puppies whelped on July 4, 1989... and "WHAT" a story !! Brigitte's temperature had not begun to drop, and we had at least 24 hours to go before her due date ... 'so we thought' !! We put Brigitte in the car and drove the short 20 minute distance to the Geauga County Fairgrounds where the Sugarbush Kennel Club puppy match was going on. We were only planning to stay there for about 15 minutes - just enough time to pick up a puppy scale from Barb and sister, Betsy. We arrived, parked the car very nearby within eye sight and went ringside to get the scale. All was fine. Paul went back to the car 5 minutes later and ...there was puppy #1 . We immediately headed home Brigitte and puppy doing great. On the country road home the traffic had come to a complete stop ... a raccoon was crossing the road and someone had set up a temporary road block. "Panic" !!! That ended and we "flew" the rest of the way home, got into the house, put Brigitte and pup in the whelping box and puppy #2 made her debut within seconds. Hours went by, no puppies - Paul took Brigitte out to the yard for a short break and - puppy #3 made her debut - yes ... on the lawn! The remaining five pups entered this world in the "old fashioned" way - in the whelping box !!! *What a way to celebrate the 4th of July !!* Pedigree Photo Gallary
