          It was September 1997 when we drove across country to acquire our first borzoi from Nadine Johnson of Rising Star Borzoi who welcomed us to her home and was a wonderful hostess! Paul had made his decision without even knowing Nadine; he saw a picture of Amber and knew that his first borzoi had to be an Amber puppy. Not too long after we arrived, Nadine brought the 3 puppies (5 months old) from her Tanqueray x Amber litter into her family room entrance. There they stood – Centurion, Conquistador and Celeste.   Paul was sitting on the couch on the other side of the room, quite a distance away.   It was “Love At First Sight” between Conquistador and Paul.   When Cody saw Paul that very first time he ran across the room, leaped through the air and landed on Paul’s lap saying “I’m yours forever” !

         Very early this Thanksgiving morning Cody woofed and woofed for us to wake up and come over to see him.   Cody had been having his problems over the past months and had been under the care of Dr. Hutchison, Paul laid down beside him and Cody lifted his nose up to Paul’s face, gave him a kiss, said I love you and goodbye until we meet again and passed over to the Rainbow Bridge.

It is said that on Thanksgiving we should tell what we are thankful for ….

          We are thankful for having shared our lives with Cody for almost 13 years -
          We are thankful that he brought us into the world of borzoi -
          We are thankful that he gave us the opportunity to meet borzoi people and make new friends -
          We are thankful for the years of loving and wonderful memories -
          We are thankful that he gave us his children and grandchildren to share our lives with -

          We will miss you Cody, there will always be a hole in our hearts forever, but know that you will always be loved, always be forever remembered and never ever forgotten.
